Installation & Upgrade Instructions

1. Install the software from the shrink-wrapped MinIdent-Win CD (see directions on packet). Don’t destroy the product code; you will need it.

2. When that installation is complete, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REGISTER YET. Instead, insert the enclosed CD-R with the upgrade into the drawer. The autorun facility on the CD-R should immediately take you into the upgrade installation procedure. In the unlikely event that the autorun facility does not work on your computer, please just go to the .exe file on the CD-R via your file manager and double-click on it.

3. When installation of the upgrade is complete, you will be able to register your copy of MinIdent-Win at: www.micronex.ca, as soon as confirmation of your payment has been received. In the meantime, you will be able to use the software without registration for about 30 days, unless it is the student edition of MinIdent-Win which requires immediate registration before it can be used.

Moving your MinIdent-Win to a different platform

The license for each individual installation of MinIdent-Win is tied to a single, particular computer platform. To move it to a different platform, you will need to take certain simple steps that are detailed below.

1. The first step is to uninstall the existing installation. To do this:

a) Go to the red “A” (About) on the top menu of the opening page of MinIdent-Win. Click on “View Registration Codes”. Now click on “Print codes: (bottom left) to send the codes to the printer (it is, in fact, a good idea to keep a copy of this printout in a safe place immediately after initial registration).

b)Now go to the “Control Panel” on your Windows “Start” menu. Click on this and select the icon for “Add or Remove Programs” From the list presented, choose MinIdent-Win. Clicking there will remove the program from your computer. [An alternative method of uninstalling the program is to go to the file manager and look under Program Files\MinIdent-Win and then click on the icon labeled “uninstall_miw.exe”].

c)When the uninstall program has completed the task, an “Uninstall code” will be written to your computer desktop. We suggest you immediately copy this to your printer.

2. You can now go ahead and install the software on the new platform in exactly the same way as when you first received the product. Again we suggest that, as in 1 (a) above, you copy the product and new Computer code to the printer.

3. Now go to the Micronex website at www.micronex.ca.

a) Navigate to: software/products / MinIdent-Win / Uninstall

b) Select “Site licensed copies” or “Single licensed copy”, as appropriate

c) Enter the Product code, the Computer code for the new installation and the uninstall code from the desktop of the previous installation in the slots provided.

d) You will be given a new Registration code that you can copy and paste into the slot provided on the Registration page of the new installation. You will now have a fully-registered copy on the new computer. Once again we recommend that you send a copy of the codes on the new platform to the printer and keep the record on file.

To avoid transfer problems, it is important that you follow these steps carefully and precisely. Please keep these instructions in a safe place!

For your future reference, both of these sets of instructions are also on the upgrade CDR as .rtf files. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any problems.
