Data & Program Upgrades

Upgrades are of two kinds:

Free Upgrades - may be offered from time to time to correct any program bugs that may come to light as well as any glaring data errors.

Paid Upgrades - include new mineral data and new data for old minerals. They do not include new images.

Free upgrades:

You may download free upgrades as often as you like. We will check the version number to determine whether or not the upgrade is suitable for your software.

When you have completed the free upgrade download procedure, if all is in order, a free upgrade will be downloaded. If there are any problems, please send us an email outlining your problem. These free upgrades are intended only to correct "bugs" or known serious data errors. Major upgrades to add new minerals and new data to the database can be purchased via the "Paid Upgrade" option. The various codes that you will need for the free upgrade, will be found under "About" on the MinIdent screen. They are also recorded in the file "MIWCODES.txt" which you should find on your Desktop.

Quotation for Paid Upgrades:

The cost of a paid upgrade depends on how long it was since your software license was purchased or the elapsed time since your last paid upgrade. To find out how much a full upgrade of your version would cost, simply click on "quote" and then enter your product code number, your computer code number, your registration key number and your name in the panels provided. If your version of MinIdent-Win has not been updated for 5 years or more, we highly recommend replacing it since that will cost little or no more than upgrading and you will get, in addition, any new images and perhaps new facilities, that may have been added since your original version was made.

Payments:

When you have your quotation, purchase can be made by a secure PayPal® credit card transaction and, if accepted, the download and upgrade can be made there and then. If, however, you do not wish to pay electronically, you may use any of the other methods of payment that are available for purchase of the complete program (i.e., a certified cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, a Western Union Money Transfer, a banker's draft, an international money order or a money wire). Institutions with established credit, may be able to use a purchase order. An upgrade order form for processing by mail can be printed from the documents section. Once your funds have been received and processed, you will be supplied with an upgrade code number by email. Then you can select the "Upgrade by code" button, enter the number and proceed with the download and installation. Should you decide against an upgrade at this time, you can simply leave the upgrade page without placing an order.

Once you have completed the paid upgrade procedure, and your payment is received, you will receive a upgrade key code and MinIdent-Win upgrade program for use on your machine and installation of the upgrade will take place automatically.

* If you have mislaid the product code supplied with your CD, you will be able to read it under "About" on the MinIdent screen. All of the other required codes and the licensee's name appear in the same place. You can also find these pieces of information in the Windows desktop directory in a text file called "MIWCODES.txt". You can open it with programs such as Notepad or Wordpad and read the required information.
